Guys, last summer I met this incredibly sweet girl. I needed a second shooter for my autumn weddings, and a mutual friend recommended Abi to me. Abi had just moved to Columbus to attend OSU, and it all worked out rather perfectly. It's kind of amazing how quickly you feel like you know someone. I remember leaving the coffee shop the day that I met her and feeling like I'd already known her for ages. Last fall she was my co-conspirator and sounding board for all of the creative adventures that happen on a wedding day. We got drenched in the rain, shot until our fingers were numb from the cold, and chatted away the sometimes long drives to and from weddings. Of course on occasion, this fantastic chap Abi was seeing would come up in conversation. She always spoke of him in glowing terms, but there was one particular time we were chatting that it was clear that relationally things has shifted...in such a good way. I saw her go from happy to peaceful. I know that feels like a bizarre analogy, but great love is peaceful. It's not unusual to fall into love and be deliriously happy (and they are!)...but when that happiness shifts into this place of peace, you know you've found someone whose heart you can call home. I saw that happen for Abi, and it made my heart so happy.
Fun fact: Jake is a musician. On occasion, he'll write a song, and play it for Abi to get her opinion and see what she thinks. So one evening they walk into the church where Jake works, and he tells her he wrote a song and he wants to play it for her. This is a fairly normal occurrence so Abi thinks nothing of it when he sits down and plays for her...until the lyrics of the song give away that this is their very own melody and he's wondering about forever...
...of course she said yes!
And yes, this is the piano where he proposed...
These two are adorable even in the "in-between" moments like below.
Yup..total favorite.
The joy is real...so happy for you both! Can't wait for your official e-session in a few months when the weather has warmed up!
